My first 795 was bought in the spring of 2011. Price was $129.95 locally and Marlin had a $25 factory rebate, so $105 plus tax. It was made in the Marlin factory. The second one I bought in the fall of 2011 because the price dropped to $119.95 and still had a $25 rebate. That one was just over $100 with the tax.

Plus my back isn't what it used to be and I find it much easier to hold a light weight rifle steady. The 795 is not a kid's rifle. It was never meant to be one. I certainly like the looks of real wood but most rifles with wooden stocks don't use walnut anymore. That includes Marlin and Ruger. And the rifles aren't plastic.
