M4 vs 1301.

Dec 23, 2022 · Have a 1301 and it makes shooting so much easier than using the Moss 500. The double is easier on my shoulder but the 1301 gives more rounds before a reload. Arthritis has made a pump hurt racking the slide, also fast arm movement to draw a pistol hurts. A 1301 cross slung seems to cause the smallest amount of discomfort. The 1301 (any variant) is the more practical shotgun IMO/E, but for the same $, the M4 is a steal. I have both. I don't have as much time behind the 1301 as the M4 but so far both have been reliable for me. I'm tempted to say the M4 might have the edge over the 1301 since it's been well regarded by military users.I still don't see a lot of 1301s. They didn't really do a much better job with their ready out-of-the box gun than Benelli. The 1301 still needs the same work as most factory shotguns. I think the 1301 is a great shotgun, it just isn't as ready to race as advertised.Main difference is that the m2 will kick a little harder because it is light and inertial. M3 is just cool. 1301 no issues. 940 pro is cool because it is 24 inch so you can shoot clays most places and has the most adjustable stock. Beretta 1301 hands down. I spent years on the quest for the best duty shotgun back when I worked for a shotgun only department. Since I couldn’t have a patrol rifle, I wanted the best shotgun available. I had a Benelli M2. It was temperamental with light loads. Significantly cheaper - ~$1200 for a 1301 LE vs ~$1800+ for an M4. Has the Beretta name behind it and a pretty good track record in normal use and competitions. The M4 is more of an iconic battle proven shotgun but really only has a self defense role in my eyes. The 1301 comp pro can do everything, sporting clays, general range fun and is light and nimble enough to play a self defense role if need be.
