About Us. The Peer Tutors Society (PTS) is an initiative under the Office of the Associate Dean of the College of Computer Studies (CCS). Established in 2002, it aims to select, train, qualify, and deploy a group of volunteer student tutors to conduct one-on-one and group tutoring sessions for first- and second-year students.Most peer tutoring is one-on-one, although occasionally tutors work with small groups of students. All peer tutoring is expected to take place in person, rather than electronically (e.g., via email, video chat, or social networks). Exceptions may be allowed in very select situations, only after prior approval from the program supervisors.Breakdown of Hours. 8 – 10 hours of 1-on-1 tutoring availability. 0 – 4 hours of drop-in tutoring (in 2-hour blocks) 1 hour every other week for staff meetings. 1 hour each week for Cohort (new Peer Tutors only) Optional: 3 hours for hosting a Review Session.
