Internal Medicine residency isn't the hardest but also isn't the easiest. Life as an attending can be ok but I really feel like it's worth pursuing a fellowship for multiple reasons: You won't get dumped on. You can (potentially) make more money. You are less replaceable. I honestly think even med school interviews being remote is fine in comparison, but residency is a whole other game. The culture just matters so much more. That being said, it cost a TON in time and money. We need to bring it back in some shape or form with more available AAMC sponsored scholarships for those who can’t afford it.
